Use of Insurance Included with Credit Cards
Details
If you wish to use the insurance attached to your credit card, you must first contact the insurance company yourself.
In principle, overseas accident insurance is a form of voluntary insurance, which is applied for on a voluntary basis. However, some credit cards automatically include overseas accident insurance, and this type of insurance is called credit card supplementary insurance.
▼ Difference between automatic supplementary insurance and usage supplementary insurance
There are two types of credit card supplementary insurance: "automatic" and "supplementary". Automatic insurance is literally a form of overseas accident insurance that automatically comes with your credit card when you leave Japan. On the other hand, the "supplementary" insurance is the insurance that is attached to your credit card on the condition that you pay for your travel and public transportation such as airplanes and buses with your credit card.
In the case of supplementary coverage, the conditions under which overseas personal accident insurance is attached vary from credit card to credit card. -
Use of Local Medical Insurance
Details
Several companies sell medical insurance in Vietnam. However, local medical insurance policies may differ in terms and conditions, such as "cashless medical service is available only for outpatient" or "there is a cap on the amount of assistance".

Details
Japan's National Health Insurance and Social Insurance have a system called the Overseas Medical Treatment Expense System, which can be used overseas. However, as in Japan, approximately 70% of medical expenses are not reduced in advance, but the patient must first pay the full amount of medical expenses and then submit the necessary documents to the company or municipality (if the patient has a health insurance association) to receive a refund of up to 70%.
